About the Book

A big question about brothers, belonging, and love

Through the eyes of curious big brother Lucien, young readers explore why siblings can look so different - and discover that love runs so much deeper than appearances.

"Because families don't have to look the same to be the same."

Written in lilting rhyme that begs to be read aloud, with vibrant, joyful illustrations by Fajar Afif. A book that sparks big conversations in the gentlest, most delightful way.

About the Author

Bessie Bouchier

Writer - Mum - Keeper of Stories

I grew up in a mixed-race family and now raise one of my own. This story was born from the sweet, curious, sometimes funny questions children ask when they begin to notice difference - especially inside their own homes.

As an Australian expat raising kids abroad, I know firsthand how powerful it is to see your family reflected in the pages of a book. It's a love letter to families who don't fit one visual mould.

With love, Bessie
